Monday, March 18, 2019 was a historic and momentous day for leading Silicon-Valley based Enterprise Technology partner Jade Global. Jade opened its new “HQ2” East Coast Headquarters just outside of Philadelphia in North Wales, Pennsylvania. The new 5,515 square foot space allows Jade Global to accommodate its growing East Coast business and reflects its flexible, efficient and scalable infrastructure.
It is no coincidence that after nearly 15 years of business in the nation’s tech hub that CEO Karan Yaramada chose the Northeast Philadelphia Region for its new HQ2. In 1999, Forbes magazine coined the term “Philicon Valley” as a neologism for Philadelphia’s version of Silicon Valley. Karan strategically sought out Jade Global’s HQ2 just 20 miles outside of Philadelphia and plans to capitalize on the city’s many advantages for business. “This is a major market for us, compared to the highly concentrated Bay Area. We like this area, the stability, the local universities with top talent, and the industry opportunities it provides,” stated Karan during the ribbon cutting ceremony on March 18, 2019. “We are proud to add this office as a major addition to our San Jose HQ and offshore delivery centers in Pune and Hyderabad.” Jade Global’s CFO Rama Karanam works out of Jade Global HQ2. He added, “We will continue to grow from here and will gradually see this office expand.”
The inception of Jade Global’s geographic expansion began two years ago when Karan put together a five-year plan to expand business within the U.S. At the time, less than 5% of company revenue was coming from outside of the Bay Area. As part of the plan, in February 2017, Jade Global acquired Saturn Infotech, a small Oracle Partner company. It has since been a priority for Jade Global to strengthen its growing presence in this region.
Over the past fiscal year, Karan’s hiring and relocation strategy at HQ2 has been in full force and it shows; 20-25% of Jade Global’s business is routed in the East coast. Since the acquisition, Jade Global has doubled the employee count of its East Coast team from less than 15 to 30 employees and continues to grow. Its clientele in the Northeast include industry leaders Willis Towers Watson, Colorcon, Pep Boys and Keystone Foods. As per Karan’s growth plan, Jade is on track to reach 35-40% of revenue from business outside of Silicon Valley within one year. “This is a major market to make Jade Global more diversified,” explained Karan in his opening speech following the ribbon cutting ceremony.
