Business Requirements

Slow and Expensive Disaster Recovery Site Synchronization

When Jade Global began working with OmniVision Technologies, the business was using Oracle Apps (Oracle E-Business Suite R12) for its ERP system and Oracle Data Guard for its disaster recovery (DR) site. OmniVision has a DR site for database and applications in Colorado and another DR solution in a datacenter located in Austin, Texas. The DR site had been setup with an Oracle application and database server using Oracle Data Guard, a comprehensive software that ensures high availability, data protection and disaster recovery for enterprise data.

Despite having a dedicated pipeline between primary and standby sites, OmniVision was facing multiple issues. Site sync was slow, expensive, and unusable as a standby database due to bandwidth issues. Manual logging was required every few hours to bring the backup sync in line with the primary sync.
