About the Client
Guardant was setting up its lab operations in Japan and obtaining necessary approvals for starting the lab operations was going on simultaneously. It was essential to have system readiness to support the operations from Japan. With this implementation, all the necessary system support for lab operations in Japan was in place. Legacy systems for inventory management and cost accounting were sunset. Guardant had already implemented Oracle Financials and Procurement Cloud With the implementation of Oracle SCM Cloud, a single unified system was now available for Guardant Japan.
Challenges of reconciliation of inventory and costing between legacy systems and Oracle Financial Cloud were eliminated with the implementation of Oracle Fusion SCM. A foundation was created to perform lab operations and billing using Oracle Fusion Applications for project-based and non-project-based orders.

SITUATION BEFORE:
- Use of the legacy system for inventory and Cost Accounting
- No system in place for managing manufacturing work orders

TURNING POINT:
Guardant was embarking upon lab operations from its Japan entity and all necessary approvals for making the lab operational were being sought. It was essential to have system readiness to support the operations from Japan.
Situation Now / Results
With this implementation, all the necessary system support for lab operations in Japan is in place. Legacy systems for inventory management and cost accounting were sunset. Guardant had already implemented Oracle Fusion Financials and Procurement; therefore, with the implementation of the above modules, a single unified system is now available for Guardant Japan. Intercompany transactions also enabled seamless transactions between the Guardant US and Japan entities.
