Your Redwood EPM Technical Guide | Jade

EPM Readiness - Are You Ready?

Although Oracle EPM is a very flexible and robust tool, it has always required significant enablement and training sessions to familiarize end users with how to best utilize it. In contrast, the new Oracle EPM UI, Oracle Redwood, will enable customers to have fewer clicks, simpler functionality, and improved end-user performance.

This new rollout has already started and will continue in waves of quarterly updates. We are helping our customers prepare for a quick implementation of the new interface.

All current EPM production environments are expected to be updated to the newest Redwood release by July 20th. By then, most Oracle EPM environments will be on Redwood, and the opt-out option will be disabled. Furthermore, Oracle will no longer support UI and Application workflow issues of non-Redwood UIs. Customers may postpone their Redwood update until August or September. By then, all customers will be on the Redwood UI in EPM.

Prior to this transition, below are some aspects we recommend to consider for those who plan to wait on updates:

  • Oracle will only support the Redwood Experience theme; no support tickets on Non-Redwood platforms will be reviewed
  • All issues will have to be reproduced in the Redwood theme before logging a support ticket
  • Oracle will not test non-Redwood themes
  • For existing pods with Redwood -> Non-Redwood themes will not appear as an option on the appearance card
  • For existing pods on Non-Redwood -> You can switch to Redwood but cannot switch back

Beyond an UI update, what does Redwood bring to you?

Currently, EPM Redwood UI is restricted to use only one of the following predefined themes:

  • Default
  • Custom Dark
  • Custom Light

*You can customize all of these with your business logo

However, The EPM Redwood changes are not as simple as just a new interface: There are several key benefits to be aware of.

Below is what you can expect to take advantage of:

  • Dynamic Tabs:
Similar to Excel, Dynamic Tabs at the bottom of the page will make it easier to navigate your data. You can view multiple artifacts simultaneously, open up to 30 tabs per page, and update and review changes without leaving the original form.
  • IPM Insights:
It automatically compiles information based on your past and future data, assists in finding patterns, trends, variations, and anomalies, and helps you gain a competitive advantage with in-depth analytics.
  • Ask Oracle:
An intuitive navigation feature already immersed in Redwood that helps users find tasks and useful information through AI suggestions.
  • Interactions:
Redwood is making interactions smarter and quicker by assisting users in completing processes with minimal mouse movement. Users can locate menu items by prefixing partial names with a “/.”
  • App Fatigue:
With Redwood, all Oracle applications are now unified, which will decrease app fatigue.

What is Next?

EPM will be the simplest Redwood rollout; in contrast, ERP, SCM, and HCM Redwood rollouts will be more complex staggered deployments.

Right now is the perfect time to get started on your Redwood impact analysis and deployment roadmap to understand how Redwood will affect all of your =fusion applications as well. Reach out to Jade today to be ahead of the game!
